STUNNING CEREMONY CLOSES THE SAINSBURY'S 2015 SCHOOL GAMES

The Sainsbury's 2015 School Games officially drew to a close on Sunday as achievements and performances were celebrated at the closing ceremony in Manchester.
Over the course of the last four days, 1,600 of the nation's finest young sports stars went head-to-head in 12 sports across nine of Manchester's world class venues.
With records broken, medals won and friendships made, the Sainsbury's 2015 School Games, which is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, has certainly been one to remember.
Before the closing ceremony took place, there was another action-packed day of sport with medals handed out at 10 of the 12 sports contested over the course of the Games.
In the cycling, Scotland trio Stephen Dent, Joe Nally and Lewis Stewart broke a four-year national record en route to gold in the three-lap team sprint.
"I was never expecting that, especially in that event," said Woodmill High School pupil Nally after helping his team clock an impressive time of 49.039 seconds.
"If you'd said at the start of the year we were going to break a national record, we'd have said no chance. It was a really big surprise to us. It's been such a good event put on by Sainsbury's, it's one of the best ones out there."
There were individual and relay medals on offer in the swimming where England North topped the points table for the second year running.
In the table tennis individual finals, there were victories for England Midlands's Alex Ramsden in the boys event, Northern Ireland's Rebecca Finn in the girls, Billy Shilton from Maiden Hill School in the disabled standing, Bedford College's Daniel Bullen in the disabled wheelchair and Adam Gittings of Rossington All Saints Academy in the learning disability competition.
Elsewhere, there was plenty at stake as the team events of hockey, rugby sevens, judo, wheelchair basketball, fencing and volleyball came to a conclusion.
The latter saw England Junior and Scotland West crowned boys and girls winners, while in the rugby sevens England South East, led by captain Sarah Bern, beat England South West 22-10.
England White took home the title in the women's hockey while Ulster celebrated with a 5-0 win over England Blue in the boys event and England Central successfully retained their wheelchair basketball title with a 60-48 win over England North, much to the delight of team member Siobhan Fitzpatrick.
"It feels pretty amazing. We came into this tournament as reigning champions and we always knew that we were going to probably face the North in the final again but we held our nerve," explained the Cardinal Newman RC School pupil.
"This is my fifth School Games. So I started in 2011 right through to 2015 and it just gets better and better every year."
