Scotland sprinter and European double gold medallist Maria Lyle marked her Sainsbury's 2015 School Games debut in style, while double Paralympic champion Hannah Cockcroft also took to the track in an action-packed day two in Manchester.

The Sainsbury's 2015 School Games kicked off in style last night with a spectacular Opening Ceremony at the Manchester Arena.

An opening ceremony featuring world champions and Olympic and Paralympic heroes will welcome the 1,600 athletes, 500 volunteers and young coaches to the Sainsbury's 2015 School Games in Manchester on Thursday night.

This is the second year running that the city of Manchester will host the Sainsbury's School Games. Last year the School Games saw four action-packed days of competition which brought together 1,600 young athletes to compete in 12 sports across the city.
